I put this together as a sample of how I actually work through a funding and incentives engagement — starting from a client's expansion plans and ending with something they can hand to their CFO and start acting on.
The scenario: a mid-sized manufacturer expanding its facility, roughly $21M in capital investment, new hires, new equipment, some renewable energy work. I researched 22 real federal, state, local, utility, and workforce programs that could apply, checked each one against the actual agency source (not a summary site), and organized it into a matrix with eligibility, restrictions, and what's still unconfirmed.
It also includes the parts people usually skip: where two incentives might conflict or overlap, draft emails to the actual agencies, an open-questions list, and a short briefing memo for management.
The company in this sample is fictional. The programs, rules, and sources are real and current as of September 2026.
